Mar 08, 2019 okay, this is might be a long shot but i hate good stuff laying around, that i have no need for. I know everyone pretty much goes straight for DSM link now days, but i have the Moates burn 2 Eprom chip burner and a blank chip ready to go.
A co-worker of mine just purchased an 01 mustang GT thursday, so of course he came to me with questions since I'm the only other mustang guy in the building. I had a good suggestion to order a tune for his car from another friend of mine who has an 01 gt. Now I'm thinking, I can burn this to a moates chip and pop it in the J3 port, or he can just order an SCT X3 or something with the tune on it, but the cost is much greater than just picking up a tune by itself($50 is pretty reasonable).The question is, can whatever is sent be burned right to a chip? I do have the hardware from moates to read the stock ecu, and I have an X3 for my crown vic, I could technically use up one of my unlocks and return my vic to stock, flash the program to the stang, read the tune with the moates hardware, burn it to a j3 chip, return the mustang to stock, install the j3 chip, and reprogram my crown vic. Or is there an easier way that wouldn't cause me to lose one of my unlocks on the X3. IF that method I just described even would work.Thx-J.

The SCT X3 attaches itself to the VIN number which is in Bank 9 of the tune. When the SCT X# writes to the EEC I believe it burns all of the banks except the last 128 bytes of bank 9 which is also called the VID block.If this is the case you could read you current tune with the moates and then save it to a file. Now use the X3 to burn a mustang tune to your crown vic using the same EEC that has the same VIN in it. Then read that with the Moates and save it to disk. It too is in bank 9???
So i bought a 1g talon awd with a stock 6 bolt pte 6152 with supporting mods.the guy was running 26 lbs of boost for over a year with the stock motor. He spun a bearing because (he never checked the oil knowing it has a oil leak) he was over 2.5 qts low of oil.anyway im throwing in another stock 6bolt until i can fully fund my build.i want to detune down to around 20psi.i dont know the softwear and cant find what i need.can someone point me in the right direction?moates ostrich 2.0innovate motorsports lm2 air/fuel meter.
