They have implemented the start menu in a better way now and PC users can again feel at home now.If you didn’t know, you can now pin folders in your taskbar using the start menu.
In Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 you needed third party tools to pin the folders but in Windows 10 you can do it without any third party tools and software.All you need to do is follow this procedure in this post.As you might have noticed, there are two different areas in the start menu where the apps can be pinned along with folders. Pinning a folder to taskbar can be done in order to have easy access to the folder at all times as no matter what desktop apps and programs we use, the taskbar is an integral part of the system after all.Now that we know it is possible without any other third party tool or software, we can easily go ahead and follow the tutorial now. Go to your Windows desktop and right-click on an empty space. You will see an option for New. Go to New Shortcut. Create a new shortcut and navigate to the folder that you want to pin. Click OK and then follow the wizard and name the shortcut.

Windows 10 Cannot Pin To Taskbar

It's straight forward enough, but if I attempt to drag and drop the folder's shortcut from the Desktop to the Taskbar I get the universal symbol for 'cannot.

You can get a trial version that will allow you to fix your settings so you can pin programs to your taskbar again and then you can still decide to uninstall the software if you want. In the example below I worked with the Windows 10 manager and installed the trial version. I clicked the save button and closed the program and now I was able again to right-click taskbar icons and pin them to my taskbar.
This is one of the most used approaches to fix the pin to taskbar not working situation. People have asked me whether they could uninstall the Yamicsoft Windows manager afterwards or if that would get them back into the pin to taskbar not working situation again. I can confirm that it’s ok to uninstall the Windows manager trial software and that you’ll still be able to pin programs to your taskbar. There’s another action that you can take, but please be advised that this will wipe out any icons from your taskbar that were already pinned. So after using this technique, you’ll have to pin those back again.
